Second graders at JMS have been practicing their observation skills in Science and Art. They looked at similarities and differences of leaves in the garden. Students used magnifying glasses to observe the detail in the leaves. They furthered their observation skills by looking at and drawing sunflowers during Enrichment. Students broke down the sunflower into geometric and organic shapes to complete their studies.
I am an art teacher and TAG mentor for Region 6 Elementary Schools: Warren, Morris, and Goshen, CT. I have a passion for art and learning. I am a process oriented person. I love working with all people on various projects. My intent is to showcase student work (process + product), to share cool art sites, and to be reflective through my journey as an art teacher. Oh, by the way, the image at the top of the page is Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo's art desk from her studio, which I had the opportunity to see at the New York Botanical Gardens summer 2015.
