In the first art classes of the year students PreK through Grades 6 drew portraits from observation using mirrors. They looked at portraits generated by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, an Italian painter best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made of objects as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books. The portraits will remain in the art room until the Sixth Grade Moving-Up Ceremony, when students will receive a collection of Self Portraits created over their elementary school years.
